It’s the many loyal customers that we’ve built relationships with over the years that keep us going, and we NEVER forget that.  We welcome the opportunity to earn your business. Come be part of our A-Tex family!

A loving message from a grateful daughter:  A-Tex Pools was first started in 1973.  In 1978 my father, Mike Zaher, took over the San Antonio business, growing it into the hottest spot in town for family leisure products. As a middle class family of 6 living in New Jersey, my father worked over an hour away from home managing shoe factories in the Bronx, NY. Once shoe imports took over, the factories started shutting down leaving him to travel as he worked abroad to make ends meet. My dad always dreamed of a better life for his family, so when the opportunity came to take over A-Tex Pools & Billiards in San Antonio, we packed our bags and headed for Texas. My father was the best in all the ways that count, but even more, he was a leader — truly a self made man and probably the most generous person I will ever know. He loved running the company and poured his heart and soul into every facet of its operation. He especially loved the relationships that he built over the years with our customers. As I grew into my adolescent years I began to see my dad in a different light. I respected his determination to be successful so that my family could live comfortably. I began working in the store as a teenager and learned very quickly that I was no more special than any other employee there. In hindsight I realize that’s one of the greatest lessons my dad taught me. He led by example and practiced what he preached. Perhaps this is one of the biggest reasons that most of us have been with the company 30+ years. My father not only believed in his staff, but believed in the products he sold as well; so much so that he couldn’t wait to get home at night to enjoy his own 24′ Doughboy pool.  My dad and I always shared an incredible father-daughter bond, but seeing how proud he was to share in my own business successes just made me want to continue to grow the company in his honor. My dad could be found at our store 7 days a week most of the time. Not one to ever retire, his last day at A-Tex was September 18, 2008 and God took him to Heaven the very next day at the age of 74. His spirit continues to live on and the many lessons he taught us only inspire us to continue his amazing legacy.
